1. In 1960, Eddie Cochran passed away in a car accident while on tour in England. Cochran was a pioneer of rock and roll and is best known for hits such as “Summertime Blues” and “C’mon Everybody.”
2. In 1969, Janis Joplin and the Kozmic Blues Band performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
3. In 1970, Paul McCartney announced that The Beatles had officially disbanded, following tensions and disagreements among the members.
4. In 1971, The Rolling Stones released their album “Sticky Fingers,” which included hits such as “Brown Sugar” and “Wild Horses.”
5. In 1972, the First International Rock Awards was held in Los Angeles, California. The event was organized to recognize and honor achievements in rock music.
6. In 1975, Elton John became the first solo artist to perform at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
7. In 1984, Michael Jackson’s album “Thriller” surpassed “Saturday Night Fever” to become the best-selling album of all time.
8. In 1993, the iconic punk rock band, The Ramones, performed their last show at The Palace in Los Angeles, California.
9. In 2003, The White Stripes released their album “Elephant,” which included hits such as “Seven Nation Army” and “The Hardest Button to Button.”
10. In 2012, Guns N’ Roses were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, despite lead singer Axl Rose declining the invitation to attend the ceremony.
