Four Different Ways To Clean Your Records

,

Vinyl records are a beloved and treasured format of music. If you’re new to collecting or just looking for tips on how to clean your records, this step-by-step guide will help you get started. Here are several techniques you can use to clean and care for your vinyl records:

  1. Dry Cleaning with a Record Brush
  • Start by using a record brush to remove any surface dust and debris from the record’s grooves.
  • Hold the brush perpendicular to the record’s surface and gently place it on the surface of the record.
  • Gently rotate the brush in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction while keeping it in contact with the surface of the record.
  • Use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe off any remaining debris from the record’s surface.
  1. Wet Cleaning with a Record Cleaning Solution
  • First, apply a few drops of record cleaning solution to the record’s surface.
  • Spread the solution across the record’s surface using a soft-bristled record cleaning brush.
  • After brushing, use a clean microfiber cloth to gently wipe off the remaining cleaning solution from the record’s surface.
  1. Cleaning with a Record Cleaning Machine
  • Place the vinyl record on the turntable of the record cleaning machine.
  • Turn on the machine and apply the cleaning solution to the brush.
  • As the record spins, the machine applies the cleaning solution to the record’s surface and the brush removes any dirt and debris.
  • Once the cleaning cycle is complete, use a clean microfiber cloth to remove any remaining cleaning solution from the record’s surface.
  1. Deep Cleaning with a Spin-Clean Record Washer
  • Fill the basin of the Spin-Clean Record Washer with cleaning solution.
  • Place the vinyl record in the basin and rotate it using the Spin-Clean brush.
  • Once the cleaning cycle is complete, remove the record from the basin and place it on a clean microfiber cloth.
  • Use another microfiber cloth to gently dry the record’s surface.

Remember to always handle your records with care and avoid touching the grooves with your fingers. By following these techniques, you can keep your vinyl records clean and free from damage.
